versus

versus Emrick called games on MSG for 23 years, 21 for the Devils. The 64-year old announcer said he wants to lighten his workload. He handled play-by-play for NBC's Olympic hockey coverage in 2010 and 2006. He'll continue to call Stanley Cup playoff and Final games on NBC and Versus. Earlier this year, he won his first career Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality-Play-by-Play."Doc is among the rare few broadcasters who elevates the game and the moment simply by his presence," said Dan Ronayne, executive vice president and general manager for MSG Networks. "We learned something new about the game of hockey and the players every time we tuned in. There is no finer ambassador for the game of hockey."
