la fitness We wanted residents to be introduced to all the health and fitness initiatives available in Richmond," said Blair Beach, community recreation coordinator for the parks and recreation department."This is the result of tremendous effort on the part of many people," said Dave Snow, promotions director of G101.3.Snow originated the idea for the event after learning that The United Health Foundation ranked Indiana 38th in the nation, and another study, The County Health Ranking project, ranked Wayne County 74 out of 92 Indiana counties regarding fitness.

Snow soon connected with Steve Baker, program director of KICKS 96, to begin developing and organizing what Snow says will be "a colossal day.""The stats are scary," Baker said of the figures Snow brought to his attention. He added that KICKS 96 officials liked the idea that City Fit will be a free family fun event. The two stations focused on the importance of improving the health of area residents as they worked with Reid Hospital and the Richmond Parks department to organize the project.City Fit will end with a 1-mile walk at 5:30 p.m. at the band shell. According to organizers, the walk will "demonstrate our city's commitment to fitness and healthy living."
