bruce springsteen According to Backstreets.com, Clemons is in stable condition and responsive after undergoing two brain surgeriesClarence Clemons, the saxophonist for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, suffered a stroke on Sunday, June 12, at his home in Florida. According to Showbiz 411, the 69-year-old, aka "Big Man," is "seriously ill."In addition, the site reports that "members of the E Street Band were advised to get down to Florida as soon as possible." Clemons had suffered from several health problems in recent years, including a spinal ailment and a condition that led to double knee surgery, which left him performing from a wheelchair for a time.

Clemons had been recovering and last performed with Springsteen in December at a special concert in Asbury Park, N.J. He has been with E Street for nearly 30 years and first recorded with Springsteen on the rocker's debut album, 'Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.' In May, Clemons performed with Lady Gaga, whose album he also makes an appearance on, during the season finale of 'American Idol.'
