ind vs eng

ind vs engEngland were 127/2 on the rain-marred opening day of first Test here at the Lord's. The rains disrupted the play several times and just 49.2 overs were possible.Jonathan Trott (58 not out) and Kevin Pietersen (22 unbeaten) were in the middle when umpires called of the game due to bad light.Indian pacer Zaheer Khan justified skipper Dhoni's decision to bowl first after winning the toss as he dismissed Cook and Strauss cheaply. However, hamstring injury forced Zaheer khan to leave the ground. He bowled 13.3 overs and his figure was 2/18.

Visitors could make a better start under the overcast conditions if they took the half-chances. Trott was dropped twice by the visitors. Dravid missed a chance off Harbhajan Singh when Trott was on 8 runs. Trott got an opportunity again on 24 when he edged a beauty from Zaheer Khan and Dravid misjudged it.

After put into the bat, English Alistair Cook and Andrew Strauss failed to provide good start to their side as Zaheer Khan and Praveen Kumar moved the bowl both ways.

Zaheer Khan reduced England 19/1 when he dismissed Cook for 12 runs. It was first time since last December that Cook was dismissed for less than 55.

Strauss was also not looking comfortable against Zaheer Khan. He edged six-times during his 22 runs knock.
