Heavy trees were toppled. Thousands of customers are without power. Massachusetts' governor declared a state of emergencyWe know that at least 19 communities have been affected so far, we have an emergency on our hands," Governor Deval Patrick said. Many displaced residents plan to stay in emergency shelters. "God's hand was over me, cuz I never seen this in my life" An evening of wild weather that many in the region won't soon forget. At least five people are in the hospital in need of surgery. Power officials say it could take days to restore full electricity to the region.
