ecology BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The Department of Ecology will meet with Bellingham area residents tonight, to discuss plans to clean up a landfill on near Bellingham BayDOE, City of Bellingham, and the Port of Bellingham have entered into a legal agreement to reduce the amount of runoff from the Cornwall Avenue landfill site.Reports show the site has hazardous levels of arsenic, lead, mercury, cyanide, PCBS and fecal coliform. The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. this evening at Bellingham Technical College, building “G”, iConference Room 103-BThe City has additional plans to cleanup the Eldridge Municipal Landfill site located in Little Squalicum Park. Ecology officials will accept public comments on both projects through July 6th.
